New Zealand (Semester)
The semester study abroad program at Lincoln University (LU) in New Zealand offers an amazing opportunity for students to explore and immerse themselves in a new culture and country.
(A winter break program, Intro to Agriculture and Natural Resources, is also offered).
The South Island of New Zealand offers some of the most spectacular natural wonders in the world.
Nearby Christchurch offers all the comforts of a major city with the feel of a much smaller, comfortable and laid back town. Students will be completely integrated into campus life at Lincoln University, and living in the campus dorms and attending classes with local students.
The Lincoln student population is around 4,500 which will allow students to make friends and easily adapt to campus life. Lincoln is also a very international campus with students from over 70 different countries and an international office to assist you with your transition to university life in New Zealand.
Location
The program is based in the town of Lincoln at Lincoln University on the South Island.
Lincoln is a small town with about 3,000 people, but is only about 25 minutes from Christchurch, the largest city on the South Island. Buses run frequently between Lincoln and Christchurch.
If you like the mountains, the Southern Alps are only a short drive away. If you prefer the ocean, the Pacific Ocean is also only a short drive away.
Academics
Students can earn up to 15 credits upon successfully completing the program. Students are required to enroll in at least 12 credits. Before departing for New Zealand students work with their academic advisers to determine the MU course equivalencies they will receive for the courses they will take at LU. Students can take courses in all faculties (departments) offered at Lincoln University. Since New Zealand is in the Southern Hemisphere, the academic calendar is shifted. Their Fall semester is from late January/early February to June. Their Winter semester is from July to late October/mid November.
